Are you a Digital agency in need for a big account?
We recently contacted a leading the foods retailer, and spoke to their Online & Digital Marketing Manager.
We asked when the retailer holds reviews for its Digital agencies. We were informed that the next review will be held roughly in 11-12 months time and that all agencies will come under review.
The Online Digital Marketing Manager oversees the process and said he could be contacted from January 2017. We also took the opportunity to ask about PR agencies but the person responsible for that was unavailable at that moment. However, we will find out more information at a later date.
Currently Design is carried out in-house whilst creative advertising and media buying are already outsourced from agencies.

Always on hunt for more opportunities, Upstream spoke to the Head of Digital of a leading recruitment agency, after it was reported that it had achieved a 15.6% hike in pre-tax profit.
We learned that the company doesn’t currently have a review procedure in place for agency support, however they review and monitor the progress of their existing agencies on a regular basis.
We also took the opportunity to ask if they would be amenable to hearing from Digital/Marketing agencies. Although they already have Digital agencies on board, they would be willing to hear from agencies who think they can better what is on offer at the moment.
Content was mentioned, but they didn’t specify any particular discipline.

This year, we have already seen over 100 new senior appointments from companies such as Fox’s Biscuit, Bourjois, Renault, Skycanner, Kellogg’s and many more.
Here are a few highlights:
House of Fraser has recently created a customer team with two new appointments: Director of Digital Product and Director of Customer Insight. The new roles are aimed to improve the company’s digital proposition and to make the retailer more consumer-centric. It sounds like a good time to reach out to them and their contact details are available on Upstream.
In the world of FMCG, Kellogg’s has appointed a new Media and Digital Director EMEA, a new Senior Global Brand Manager has just started at Reckitt Benckiser and Kallo’s new Brand Controller has just joined from Lucozade Ribena Suntory.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it would be rude not to lovingly applaud the innovation of some of our favourite brands’ campaigns. Here’s a selection of our favourite news this week:
Addicted to Snapchat yet? From geo filters to quirky lenses that spice up your selfie, the app is popular among millennials. This Valentine’s Day, Pepsi Max will be one of the first UK brands to partner with Snapchat to allow users to turn their selfies into ‘Chelfies‘ – ‘cherry-flavoured’ selfies- through an animated filter.
If Snapchat is not your thing, Skype and Sir Paul McCartney collaborated to offer you innovative ‘Mojis‘ emoticons to better express your love online. The singer lent his musical genius to a set of ten Mojis from a Sumo wrestler playing Cupid to a romantic gifts-giving octopus.
While some dating websites match potential dates with complex algorithms, Tesco this year is matching singles based on their shopping basket. The online 2-minute ad acts as a social experiment that wants to find out whether shopping baskets are a factor in matchmaking. Although the initiative is original, it had mixed reviews on twitter.
And if you ran out of ideas for your date, Addison Lee suggests an innovative last minute Valentine’s date with a range of ‘CupidCabs‘. Embark on a Mercedes car for a 90-minute tour of London’s most romantic spots as you sip Moet and snack on premium chocolate. Even if you forget the roses and Valentine’s Card, Addison Lee has got you covered. All of this for £40, not bad for a last minute date!
Have a nice week-end!

Our Exclusives team had a conversation with the Head of Brand Sponsorships & Digital Marketing at a major consumer finance brand. We discussed procurement procedures for marketing, PR and Digital agencies, when their next agency review will be and how they engage agencies.
The contact explained that ahead of the planned review later this year, they would be open to accepting introductions from RAR top 100 agencies only. Typically agencies are retained by this client for 24 -36 months.
It goes without saying that if you are a RAR top 100 rated agency, now would be a good time to show off your wares and build a strong relationship with this key stakeholder.

An online retailer of premium clothing brands is currently building a robust marketing strategy, a key part of which will be an intelligent email marketing drive. When Upstream discussed their plans with The Head of Digital, they flagged that while the marketing strategy is still being planned, the company would like to hear from agencies with strong experience in this area. This represents a great opportunity for agencies to introduce themselves ahead of the retailer finalising their strategy.

The team at Upstream has just contacted the Head of Brand of a well-known telecommunications company to catch up on their need for a digital agency. We have been informed that the company is currently in the lengthy process of defining its brand and preparing for a brand overhaul which will hopefully be complete within three months. The company is also thinking of developing a PR and Communications Strategy, to support and solidify this re-brand in the minds of consumers.
With an expected 1bn customers in the coming years, this represents a great opportunity for PR or Digital agencies willing to get in touch.
